The objective of the VineRobot project is the design, development and deployment of a novel use-case agricultural robot as an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV), equipped with several non-invasive sensing technologies.
Chlorophyll-based fluorescence, RGB machine vision, IR thermograph and GPS technologies are foreseen to optimize vineyard management, decision-making and improve grape quality.
Correspondingly, the UGV and the sensing technologies will be used to monitor parameters such as grape yield, vegetative growth, vineyard water status and grape composition.
The project involves 8 partners (5 SME and 3 RTD organizations) from 4 different vine-growing and winemaking European countries (France, Germany, Italy and Spain).
VineRobot has received over two-million euros funding from the European Union’s Seventh Programme for research, technological development and demonstration.
